Proud to Support Our Veterans
At Hearthstone, we admire the courage and sacrifice of the veterans who have served our county and are honored to have them in residence at both our communities.
We are committed to helping these heroes and their families get the veterans’ benefits they deserve, by directing them to local resources for information, support and assistance.
Aid & Attendance
Hearthstone has considerable experience with the Aid & Attendance program, a monthly benefits program of the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. This financial need-based program is available to qualifying wartime Vets (and surviving spouses) who have physician orders for regular assistance with the activities of daily living.
For those who qualify, funds from this special pension can be used to pay for any kind of assistance, including assisted living. This tax-free benefit is paid directly to the applicant; estimates suggest that nearly 25% of seniors could potentially apply for Aid & Attendance. Oregon’s Department of Military/Veteran Affairs is staffed with Veteran Service Officers who can assist you in completing the Aid & Attendance application free of charge.
Give either Hearthstone community a call, we are happy to discuss your options with you!
Local Experts to Help
Here in Washington County, the Department of Disability, Aging, and Veteran Services (DAVS) is also available to help Vets obtain the benefits for which they qualify. The helpful staff at DAVS assists veterans who served in any branch of the U.S. Armed Forces in an active capacity, as well as surviving spouses.
A highly trained Veteran Service Officer (VSO) will help you determine applicable benefits, which could include disability compensation, pension, survivor’s pension, and VA health care, among others.
